Privacy Policy
Last updated
This Privacy Policy explains how Shotboard ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Shotboard Mac app, this website and related services.
Shotboard is built to keep your work on your Mac. Your boards, prompts and media are stored locally. They leave your Mac only when a task you ask for needs another service, such as an AI model.
About us
Shotboard is operated by MaitoAI, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company with an address at 1111b South Governors Ave STE 25502, Dover, DE 19904, United States. Contact us at support@maito.app.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run Shotboard and improve it:
- Account information: your name, email address, sign-in identifiers and plan, through our sign-in provider, Clerk.
- Billing information: subscription status, invoices and payment identifiers. Card details are handled by Stripe and are never stored by Shotboard.
- Product analytics, unless you switch them off: which features, models and providers you use, how long tasks take and whether they worked, your app version and macOS version, linked to your account or an anonymous install ID. It never includes your prompts, text, images, videos, file names or keys.
- Feedback you send through the app: your message, any screenshots or recordings you attach, and your name and email so we can reply.
- Support messages you send us.
What stays on your Mac
Your boards, prompts, generated and imported media, transcripts, chat history and the API keys you add are stored on your Mac. We do not have a copy of them.
Transcribing speech and reading text in images uses Apple's built-in recognition on your Mac. For some languages, macOS may send audio to Apple's speech service to transcribe it, under Apple's privacy policy.
AI providers and connected services
When you ask Shotboard to generate, edit, research or chat, it sends what that task needs, such as your prompt, reference images or video, directly from your Mac to the provider you chose, using your own key or account. This includes providers such as fal, Replicate, Higgsfield, xAI, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic, and AI tools you connect, such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or Grok.
When you paste a link or search ads, Shotboard fetches public pages and media from the site involved, such as Meta's Ad Library, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or X. If you connect Context.dev for brand data, Shotboard registers with your email in your name.
These services process information under their own terms and privacy policies, including their own retention and AI training rules. Review them before sending sensitive material.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Create and manage your account and plan, and process payments.
- Provide the app, deliver updates and keep it secure.
- Understand which features are used and what fails, so we can fix and improve Shotboard.
- Reply to feedback and support requests.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms.
Product analytics
Shotboard sends product analytics to PostHog. You can switch them off at any time in Settings, under Account: turn off “Share usage data to help improve Shotboard.” That stops all product analytics from the app. Builds made for development send nothing.
This website does not use analytics, advertising trackers or tracking cookies.
Service providers
We share information with vendors that help us run Shotboard: Clerk (sign-in and accounts), Stripe (payments), PostHog (product analytics), Slack (receiving in-app feedback) and Cloudflare (downloads and updates). They process it on our behalf to provide their services.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
No selling, no training
We do not sell personal information. We do not use your prompts, boards or media to train AI models; we don't have them. AI providers you connect process information under their own policies and your agreements with them.
Retention and deletion
Data on your Mac stays until you delete it or remove the app. We keep account, billing and analytics information while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, security and dispute purposes.
You can ask us to delete your account and the information we hold by writing to support@maito.app. We cannot delete data stored only on your Mac or information independently held by providers you connected.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit for our services. No system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for securing your Mac, your account and the provider keys you add.
International transfers
We and our vendors may process information in the United States and other countries. Privacy protections there may differ from those where you live.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to or export your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Send requests to support@maito.app. We may need to verify your identity.
Children
Shotboard is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we may notify you in the app, by email, or by updating the date on this page.
